About the Artist

Encouraged to explore my creativity from a young age, I always had a vivid imagination and spent many hours lost in a sketchbook. By my Junior year in high school, I was hooked on art and was driving 2 hours to the Art Institute of Boston on weekends with a friend to take pre-college drawing foundation courses. My studies continued with summer intensives at the Rhode Island School of Design and at Skidmore College in New York. Over four years I received my BFA with a major in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and spent a semester oversees in the Illustration program at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland.

After interning at the Maryland Science Center as an Exhibits Graphic Designer / Illustrator, I moved back to New Hampshire (where my family all live) and have since worked in the field of graphic design and marketing. I have over a decade of experience with Adobe software, print production, WordPress-based web design, event promotion, logos and digital advertising, but I most enjoy freehand illustration.

To balance the hours I spend at a drawing table / computer (far too many!), my husband and I grow a wide display of organic vegetables, flowers and medicinal plants at our small 8-acre farm (www.westwoodfarmnh.com).

My specialty is narrative illustration, with a focus on the natural world, character development and the subtleties of the human experience.
